What is Art IS Education?

Art IS Education is an annual, much anticipated county-wide showcase demonstrating the power of youth learning in and through the arts Each March, during National Arts Education Month, local schools, school districts and community arts organizations participate in Art IS Education, where students have opportunities to share the process through which they have learned new skills, solved problems, taken risks, and persisted through obstacles, in order to bring form to their ideas expressed in works of art.

Celebrating10-Years!

This anniversary of Art IS Education celebrates the shared accomplishments of a decade of visionary leadership in arts education.

Ten years ago a group of community leaders convened a crowd of educators, artists and luminaries, where together they called for the need for schools, arts organizations, community centers, policy makers and funders, all to collaborate around the development and well being of youth in and through the arts. As a result, the Alameda County Alliance for Arts Learning Leadership was established, launching the Art IS Education program. Celebrate!
Creating Heroes Every Day

The 10-Year Anniversary is a time to celebrate the unique and special hero that every child is. We celebrate the “Heroes Every Day” - teachers, artists, principals, administrators, parents, business and community members - who are forging new relationships, practices and programs in a rich and coordinated effort.

This is a moment for each one of us to respond to the call for hero in ourselves to advocate for policy change that will assure a well-rounded curriculum that includes arts learning for every child, in every school, every day.
